Let's play! I forgot how we used to do it (prose? Or written like scripts?), but hey, at least I tried.Sokia, Aren, Teselle, and HoxeIt had been Aren's idea, really, to go to the savannah, but Sokia claimed it as her own because dammit, Aren was always getting credit for everything and he was such a dick about it sometimes. 'Sides, it wasn't like anyone would be hurt by her little lie. Aren probably woulnd't even bother to correct her because he was so goddamn superior about these sorts of things.Teselle had come along even though Sokia had tried her best to convince the Riptide to go elsewhere. It was no use talking sense to a Riptide, however, and when Teselle's tail had started to twitch, Sokia backed away and held her tongue. Better not to offend a nutjob, Sokia had concluded wisely.Hoxe had tagged along, too, which was pecular because Nirrus was admant about remaining at the den. Hoxe usually stuck so close to Nirrus that he was practically the other mel's shadow. Aren might have been the one to encourage Hoxe to come; Aren was always doing stuff like that, the thoughtful bastard.Sokia sighed and stretched and then focus all her energy into watching a tiny red beetle climb its way up blade of grass. When the beetle finally reached that top, it toppled off and started the whole process over again. Wow."Bored," she announced after flicking the beetle into the oblivion.
Akasma, Vamor, and AngeloAkasma had been the one who demanded to leave the realm and head off to the savannah. So new she was, and already she was bored with the company the other melceys in the realm had to offer. Not to mention she was sick and tired of Charges hitting on her. Thank god ValleyEcho had put her foot down and stopped him from coming along to the savannah today. But of course, she couldn't go alone, could she? Vamor had been the one volunteered to accompany her. Not that he had argued, of course, it had been far too long since he'd been down to the savannah, in his opinion. It felt good to get out and stretch his legs. And Angelo had, of course, decided to come along. Pass up an opportunity to revisit those familiar tall grasses and flowers? He hopped along after the other two, his little flop-eared head only on occassion peeking up above the grasses. When he spotted other melceys lounging about on the savannah, he gave a short squeak of "Others!" before tripping and tumbling nose over tail.Akasma straightened up immediately, eyeing the other mels before heading towards them. Fast enough to seem interested, but slow enough to not seem desperate. Vamor gave a roll of his eyes at the vain female, and after helping Angelo to his feet, the two males followed.
"OMG other melceys!" Sokia had a heart attack, followed by seizure, and the explosion of a vein in her brain. "Hi!" She squealed as she ran over the greet the trio. "I'm so glad that you came! Aren's being such a bitch and everything else is so incredibly and obnoxiously boring -""I resent that," Hoxe huffed as he followed the water melcey toward the group of newcomers. "The only obnoxious one here is you, Sokia."Aren rolled his eyes, but didn't disagree with Hoxe. "Vamor," he said ponderously, "You're Gitomae's mate, right? Pity that she didn't come along with us."
Angelo slid to a halt as the over-excited water melcey came bounding towards them. He listened to her rambling, head bobbing slightly with every word. When Hoxe stepped forward, however, he took a step back to simply listen. He never had done very well in large groups.Akasma however, fell neatly to a seated position, head held high. As off-put as she was by Sokia's exuberant greeting, nothing would stop her from making an excellent first impression. Raising a paw to her chest, she dipped her head in a sort of bow. "I am Akasma. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."Vamor blinked as Aren approached, though his ears perked up as he heard his mate's name. "You live with Gitomae? How is she?" He seemed eager for news of Gitomae--it had been far, far too long since he'd seen her. Far, far too long since he'd seen anyone who lived outside the realm even.
Feeling like he'd found a kindred soul in the dignified Akasma, Aren settled down with an easy smile. "Hoxe, Sokia, and I'm Aren," Aren introduced everyone and calmly grabbed Sokia's tail to reign her in lest she tackle someone. "Teselle's the Riptide, she's nice enough, albeit a bit odd."Hoxe nodded emphatically. "She's good people, most of the time. I'd rather be stuck with her than Sokia anyday." There was an offended "Hey!" from the insulted party. "Because Sokia sucks."Aren shot the smaller melcey a dark look, "What remarkable wit." When Hoxe shuffled his feet sheepishly and murmured an apology to Sokia, Aren turned back to Vamor. "She's fine. She's been turning our den into a greenhouse. I'm sure she'll come along next time."
Vamor smiled as Aren finished up the introductions, then glanced around for--where had he gotten off to? Ah, there he was, peering out from the grass behind Akasma. "Over there is Angelo."The smile life meeped a bit before crouching down further into the grass. Akasma rolled her eyes slightly. Why come out to the savannah unless you wanted to socialize? "I'm surprised there aren't more with us. None of them have been out here in ages..."Vamor shrugged lightly at Akasma's comment, before turning back to Aren. He gave a light chuckle. "I'm not surprised. That certainly sounds like her." His ears perked up as the fire melcey mentioned that she'd probably come out next time. "I'll be sure to be out here then."
Sokia peered through the grass at the furry moving blob. "You're Angelo?" She asked as she trotted over. "What're ya doing? Looking at bugs? Any tasty ones?"Hoxe trailed behind her, rolling his eyes. "He's probably hiding from you, Sokia.Aren scanned the savannah and then let out a long suffering sigh. "It's been quiet - too quiet. We've lost touch with nearly everyone."
Angelo more or less froze as Sokia approached him. Wide little black eyes watched her trot closer. "Er, bugs?" He more or less squeaked. "There's some bugs, but I don't know if they're tasty... They are probably very crunchy and gooey, but you know there's only one way to find out..."Akasma looked positively disgusted. They were talking about eating bugs. Oh god...Vamor frowned as Aren settled into a more serious subject. He nodded in agreement. "We haven't had any sort of contact with anyone outside our realm in so long... You're the first in ages, to be completely honest."
Sokia gaped. "Surely you jest! Not eating bugs? What are you, some sort of weirdo? Where do you get your protein, man?""I dunno... From normal food perhaps?" Hoxe snorted and shook his head, mystified how Sokia had managed to stay alive for so long. "We're not all troglodytes like you." (Zing! He got to insult her and use a fancy word he had picked up from Nirrus! Could the day get any better?) "He's just jealous that he's not fast enough to catch them," Sokia assured Angelo. "Big blue ones are good, but stay away from bees. Whatever you do, do not eat bees."Aren's ears twitched as he listened in the other conversation, but he remained seated. "Indeed. It's as if everyone has simply fallen off the face of the planet!"
